Voicebeat is a world music community choir based in the West End of Glasgow. They meet weekly to sing traditional songs in unaccompanied harmony, drawn from a wide variety of styles and traditions around the world, and sing in languages from Armenian to Zulu. Founded in 2002 as part of an initiative to help refugees and asylum-seekers integrate, the group currently has about fifty active members of all levels of musical experience and none. Singers have come to the group from countries as diverse as Australia, Cameroon, Hungary, India, Iran, Mexico, Russia, Singapore and Zimbabwe.
